It’s hard to see light and joy sometimes, especially when the skies are so gray and the world is in chaos… I sometimes wonder if there will ever be an end to the lockdowns, masks, political and social division, and the intrusion on our way of life. But I tell myself just live one day at a time, ask God what he wants me to do each moment, be a light, give a smile and positive word to those around me.
This is one reason I took it upon myself to decorate for the major holidays at work, starting with Easter, this past year (I work in a dreary cave with white painted walls). I put a smiley face sticker on my ID badge. I hung up inspirational posters at my cubicle. I bring in candy and pandemic-safe-individually-wrapped treats occasionally.
If there is no light, then be it. This was the encouragement I heard today. As a Christian, I know who is the ‘Light of the World’: Jesus Christ. I have a greater responsibility to reflect HIM to the dark world around and not just think about myself and my fears.
I definitely have my moments of depression, anxiety, and negative thoughts and speech, but I eventually talk myself down with God’s truth from His word. Friends, here’s sending you some sunshine in this dreary winter and season in our world right now. ☀️
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12 KJV
